Playground Decking Made Safe
PROBLEM
Wooden decking areas in the playground had become very slippery in certain conditions.
There had been an injury claim against the school, so they needed to make the areas safer for the children.
The school had a limited budget and needed to retrofit a grip system to the existing surfaces, rather than replace the areas.
SOLUTION
RU Coated conducted prequalification trials in our workshops on a number of systems to mimic the inclined surfaces at the school. After establishing the best materials and the correct aggregate levels, a working recommendation was issued to the contractor.
As a result of the prequalification testing, the contractor was able to complete the work to over 200m in less than a day and with minimal material wastage.
Ultimately this proved much more cost effective and convenient than having to replace all the decking areas.
