Unconventional Concrete Repairs Save Balconies

PROBLEM
Carbonation of the concrete had caused severe spalling, which threatened the structure of the balconies and creating a real risk of falling debris.
Each block had 24 flats, and none could be vacated to provide lengthy repairs.
SOLUTION
RU Coated offered “wrap-around” support for the work in this first block. We specified materials, issued working recommendations, trained the contractors and provided onsite support. Once completed, we also conducted final inspections to validate the application.
The materials chosen allowed for a rapid repair to each balcony, with minimal disruption to the residents.
The housing association was delighted with the materials and the support offered, and despite the work being done in the winter, it was finished in good time and without incident.
The client had several identical buildings with the same issues, and a further 2 blocks were completed the following year.
